What are you laughing at? Your just jealous your lunch box ain't as cool as mine.

Ahead of last week’s Northern Trust Open in California, I was feeling rather confident about Steve Stricker’s form, so I threw out a challenge on Twitter predicting that he would win. I was so confident I was willing to put my lunchbox on the line if anyone was willing to do the same backing another horse.

Just to put this in context, my lunchbox usually consists of a wholesome sanga, a yoghurt or two, a muesli bar, some fresh fruit and perhaps some crackers or chocolate – So as you can see, I was really putting my crown jewels on the chopping block. I think my confidence surely scared off any potential challengers because no one stepped up to the plate. When Steve Stricker’s par putt on the 72nd fell for the two shot victory on Monday, no one was happier eating their lunch than me.

I thought I might go a step further and choose a few players I think will win the majors this year. Usually when I do this with my cronies we don’t let anyone pick Tiger, but perhaps under the current circumstances It’s not such a Tiger monopoly. As much as I love watching Tiger win (and I’m sure he will win a major this year), it’s never that fun betting on him for some reason – go the underdogs!

I’ll throw four names on the table just for shits and giggles:

Martin Kaymer - Surely one of the young up-and-comers will breakthrough sooner rather than later. He’s won already this year and boy can this kid play!

Steve Stricker - Theres a good argument that he currently owns the “Best player to never win a major tag” on tour. At 42-years-old, and the newly crowned world-number-two, he’s the new Vijay.

Henrick Stenson - The rise of the Europeans can’t be ignored. His win last year at the Players was special, and there’s no reason he cant reproduce effort that in a major this year.

Sergio Garcia - It’s nostalgic for me guys. I’m sick of the ‘he can’t putt’ heckles I continuously get when I mention his name – he’s one of the best ball strikers to ever live! He’ll win multiple majors in his career and I’m hoping numero uno arrives in twenty-ten.
