Aussie Masters – Final Round

Australian Stuart Appleby has claimed the Aussie Masters in stunning fashion. The PGA Tour player from Victoria closed with two birdies to shoot a classy six-under 65, holding off third round leader Adam Bland by a stroke. Appleby, who’s never won on Melbourne’s sand belt before, didn’t take command of the tournament until the 17th hole where he binned a massive putt to move into the lead on 10-under. After beginning the year uncharacteristically without a PGA Tour Card, the 39-year-old claimed the Greenbrier Classic to find form with a dramatic 59! Now, three month’s later, he owns a Gold Jacket (and an extra $270, 000AUS) to cap off an impressive 2010. (more…)

Unheralded Australian Adam Bland will take a three-shot lead over compatriot Daniel Gaunt into tomorrow’s final round of the Aussie Masters in Melbourne. The conditions got the better of most of the field as scores began to blow-out, the Kiwis were not immune along with world number two – Tiger Woods.
The world’s number two golfer, Tiger Woods, has returned to Melbourne eager to defend his 2009 Aussie Master’s title, this time at a different course – The Victoria Golf Club. Johnnie Walker Golf Club’s Reece Witters will be inside the ropes throughout the week watching the action unfold whilst keeping an eye on the Kiwi hopes…
