The US Open returns Congressional Golf Club in a fortnight, and, as is with the post Tiger era, there’s a stack of players who have a sniff. The top 50 players in the Official World Golf Rankings two weeks prior to the event (and in the week during) are exempt – here’s a run down of where they’re all at…


Last Sunday marked a terribly sad day for golf. Five-time major champion and golfing super-star of his era, Seve Ballesteros, passed away with family at his side following cruel complications of a cancerous brain tumor that he endued for over two years. The 54-year-old Spaniard will not only be remembered for the artistry and charisma he brought to the fairways, but for his everlasting impact he had in making the European Tour into what it is today.


Imagine playing golf everyday for an entire year. Well, that’s what two golf-mad Kiwis – Jamie Patton and Michael Goldstein – did during the course of 2010. Now, after playing golf for 365 consecutive days across four continents, the minor celebs now have their weary feet up and are in a contemplative mood.
