Quiet please

There is still calm before the storm when the endangered species of golfing Tiger is re released into the wild environment of professional golf on the PGA Tour. Each tournament before the return of Woods is another opportunity for players to gain extra Race to Dubai and Fedex Cup points, world ranking points, silverware and kudos. Unfortunately for players looking to quietly go about their business, a storm has been served up in the form of the FBR Open this weekend.

Festival season has arrived on the PGA Tour and the rock’n'roll atmosphere will be ringing around the stadium course at TPC Scottsdale for the largest, loudest and craziest event of the year. Its one event when patrons are encouraged to get raucous, cut loose and lose their pants… well maybe not the latter but nudity never harmed anyone.

If the madness gets too much for the players, on the second round they could always top their drive off 18, follow it up with a shank, three thinned shots to the back fringe of the green, fluff the chip back and four putt to make sure they miss the cut and not have to work on the weekend. After warming their vocal cords in the beer tents the players could then get behind the ropes and join the rowwdy party at the par three 16th, booing and cheering their fellow tour players on the
amphitheatre that is the loudest hole in golf.

Around the GP offices some players are being thrown about as possible winners, names that are popping up are characters that seem to enjoy the rock-star side of golf. It’s hard to look past the likes of Boo Weekly, Bubba Watson, Camillo Villegas, Anthony Kim and at 40/1 with
the bookies JB Holmes is a good shout.

Tiger Woods joined in the fun back in 1997, known today as the loudest sound heard on a golf course.
