A pitch in time saves nine

Here is a little reminder of the brutality of US Open golf. As usual Phil Mickelson will be among the favourites at this year’s event at Bethpage Black (monster) public course in New York. Philly’s preparation has unfortunately been a rocky one with his wife Amy’s well documented sickness, we all know the big cheese will get up for the event he dearly loves and has come uber close to claiming in the past.
Last year Lefty spontaneously combusted with a wedge in his hands, Kiwi commentator Frank Nobilo sums up the nightmare beautify.
There is an old analogy that with the change of a couple of letters couldn’t be any more ideally suited on this occasion.
Proverb:
A stitch in time saves nine
A little effort expended sooner to fix a small problem, prevents it from becoming a larger problem requiring a lot of effort to fix later; A little preparation can eliminate the need for repairs later; consistency (achieving a set rhythm) is better than trying to rush ahead.
A pitch in time saves nine
Taking your medicine in the trees and pitching out to the fairway, or playing the safe shot when risk is ever present. Keeping the ego in check and playing for the percentages rather than the hail Mary which more often than not results in a blow-out – or a nine.
